June is Done

I've not done this before and writing has never been one of my favorite things to do. I've finally finished my June page and am getting ready to start on July's. Since June has always been the beginning of Summer and I now live in Florida, I felt it called for the beach. The shells are ones that I have collected and I just knew that a turtle had to be included.

Well, I guess you are stretching your wings a bit with this BJP. Writing has never been my strong suit (to put it mildly) but I do like to socialize some and living in the middle of nowhere I have found it quite enjoyable to "chat" with everyone on the BJP (I don't consider it writing as I don't "compose" paragraphs or worry overmuch about grammar or subject. This way it's fun, fun, fun!

Your piece is fabulous. As soon as I got a glimpse of it I said "beach!" and it turns out that's just what you were doing. Usually I see beach pictures as ocean at the top of the picture and sand at the bottom but you did it the other way around and it's extremely effective. I feel like I have just been treated to a close up of beach life! My sisters who LOVE the beach would LOVE your piece.

Lovely! This really seems like the seashore--the edge of the water and the shells and turtle in the sand. I feel like dipping my toes in!

Gorgeous piece. I like the added natural elements of the shells. Plus I am a pearl fan and the way they are floating in the water is excellent.
Can't wait to see what you come up with next.

This is fabulous!! I immediately thought ocean and tidepools... the way the tops of the waves come in at a slant, the cool of the water juxtaposed to the warm of the sand and rocks... It takes me back home to Santa Cruz, CA where I grew up. Thanks so much for posting!!!!

Oh how wonderful. I grew up in Florida and spent many years on the Gulf Coast in Sarasota, I now live in New Mexico and the one thing I miss so much is the beach. I was never one to do a lot of swimming in it, just loved to be there collecting shells. My favorite times of being there where early in the morning , sunset or at night. Your piece is so beautiful and so perfect it sure reminds me of those moments on Siesta Key Beach looking for sea shells. Congrats on finishing it. I too just started beading embroidery with this project. I am so hooked.
I will add you to my list of blogs to track so I get to see your next beautiful piece.

Hi Jennifer,

I love the blues in your project along with your special shells you added :o) It does make me think of summer and the beach (my favorite!) I have fond memories of a vacation we took in Florida years ago :o) I think my favorite thing was to drive all the way to Key West.

I'm new to all this beading and blogging also and appreciate you sharing, Lillian in WA

I love the colors you used and the bits of shell that you collected yourself.

I love your composition of the beach and water. The design reminds me of some Aboriginal paintings. And your turtle is just so cute!

Your piece took me straight back to my business visits to Florida -- very mindful of the Atlantic coastline. Peaceful yet playful . . .

Wonderfully soothing... I grew up in Southern California and am now in Indiana - I miss the beach - I used to sit and just watch the waves on occasion, this conjured lots of nice memories for me. It's beautiful!
